That’s the way we roll: Absolut Vodka ‘Rock Edition’

The iconic Swedish vodka launched its brand new 'Rock Edition' at Blackbox in KLMAP. The theme was rock & roll- leather jackets with studs, gothic makeovers and the rock star treatment. We were right in the middle of it all, filming the event in HD.

Our HD DSLR, the EOS 7D rock and rolled with the rest of them, visiting the cool 'backstage' especially set up for this rock & roll themed adventure. We filmed in the cramped trailer-like entrance to the dark interiors of Blackbox where the gothic decor immediately brings to mind exciting images of a carefree rock band.

Absolut created a convincing experience as guests were treated to stellar performances by Naked Breed and Two Sides To A Story. Late in the evening, DJ Twilight Action Girl gave us even more rock inspired tracks.

The HD footage was shot with Canon's excellent EOS 7D with RedRock Micro's microShoulderMont and attached FollowFocus. This setup made it compact enough for quick maneuvering across the crowded room and yet capture great looking shots.

The LitePanels LED video light gave us much respite from the extremely dark interior. It lit up the path yet provided soft light so that our subjects looked appealing.

Still, our setup overwhelmed some guests. As I poked my HD DSLR into a group, I remember someone blurting out, 'What the hell is that?'. For the more initiated, as I moved amongst some videographers (one of them with a XLH1), I overheard one of the mutter, 'Wow, it comes with a Follow Focus too!'.

The HD footage we shot exported easily into Edius 5. It was as usual, edited on our 17" MacBook Pro running Windows. I just love the Mac, Apple has truly created a computer that we can fall in love with. Of course, being able to install Windows means we can use the PC based Edius. The Mac and Edius, they work like a charm.

A staggering crowd of over 6,000 spent the night dancing away to the sensational tunes.

Canon 7D goes to DataVideo’s HD Seminar

EOS 7D shoots demo of HS-2000 which is then projected live for participants to watch

We were in for a treat: DataVideo brought in their newest, most innovative and highly regarded product, the HS 2000 'swticher in a box'. It comes with HDMI inputs/outputs and what better way to show everyone the flexibility of the HS2000 than by hooking it up with Canon's EOS 7D, another product that arrived ahead of its time.

We had the EOS 7D connected with the HS2000 video switcher in addition to two other actual video cameras. So there we were, full HD video signal streaming out of the EOS 7D through its HDMI port.

The DataVideo HD Seminar was organised by Graphics Vision, the distributor of DataVision products in Malaysia. Its Managing Director gave guests a brief rundown of what to expect and also announced the status of WolFang Digital as Authorised Training Centre for GrassValley.

DataVideo HS-2000: 5 HD Channel Mobile Studio

Mr. Frank Lin himself, the Managing Director of DataVideo (Singapore), gave us an impressive presentation of DataVideo's products and clientele worldwide. Later, he showed us the major and most sought after DataVideo products like the DN60, a that enabled tape based video cameras to shoot directly into CF cards, thereby eliminating the tedious process of digitising from tape.

The highlight of the seminar was of course the HS-2000 demo and it didn't disappoint. 3 technicians from DataVideo Singapore gave switched live video feeds from 4 video cameras, including the EOS 7D. Everything was real time of course, including transitions and lower 3rd titles.

We were providing a close-up view of the HS-2000 as they showed off its capabilities. With 4 HD-SDI inputs, 2 HD-SDI outputs, a 17" LCD, Lumakey function and text overlay, this is truly a portable studio! Read more about it here: DataVideo HS-2000

Another successfully organised event by the folks at GraphicsVision and DataVideo

We recorded participants having a closer look at the displays. Shooting this event with the micorShoulderMount from RedRock Micro was easy enough. The rig did a great job at transforming the EOS 7D into a much more ergonomic platform. Attendees were intrigued by our HD DSLR film making capability and asked interesting questions.

The entire day was great fun for us; being around so many state-of-the-art equipment that are supported by equally high-tech companies.

WolFang Digital is awarded the title of Authorised Training Centre by GrassValley

At the DataVideo HD Seminar organised by Graphics Vision, WolFang Digital was awarded the title of Authorised Training Centre for GrassValley. This announcement was made by *Graphics Vision's Managing Director, Mr. Benedict Yee.

28th April 2010 marks WolFang Digital's entry into an exclusive network of GrassValley training centres all over the world. WolFang Digital has been offering video editing courses using GrassValley's Edius, which is an industry standard for broadcast and video production.

Our recognition by GrassValley means we have met their requirements to strive for excellence in offering innovative training and courses.
