DOP Accessories is a well regarded Singapore based manufacturer of film making accessories. They design, make and even customize every facet of gear for film makers.
This trip was sponsored once again by Canon Professional HD Center. It was educational and exhilarating meeting up with the owner of DOP, who is also a successful real life DOP himself (Director Of Photography).
David Foo’s debut feature film (for which he was the cinematographer), ‘Kallang Roar’, propelled him into the limelight in 2008.
This trip was tremendously significant to us because David Foo let us in on his latest project- Sterescopic 3D Cinematography. He showed us how he could set-up his S3D rigs in a fraction of the time it would take his competitors. This is exciting stuff, but for another post.
In this blog post, we show off the Noktor Hyperprimes that are available at DOP Accesories. They are excellent and rare full manual lenses for micro four-thirds cameras.
Being a manual lens, you don’t just get full control over the focus. The aperture is also at your service.
Turning the aperture ring is smooth as silk. This lens features a variable fluid aperture. The aperture ring is responsive, they don’t click and there are no ‘stops’ in between. Perfect for controlling depth of field and exposure in tricky lighting situations. This range of Hyperprimes are incredible fast lenses. They start at F 0.95; that’s a lot of stops to with!
We tested the lenses on a couple of Panasonic AF 102 in David’s studio. The lenses were very impressive, especially at the size they come in and at the price point.
