You focus on your subject. On the camera’s LCD, it’s in sharp focus. That’s what you thought until you see your footage on a 42″ plasma screen. HDSLR videographers should not go on a shoot without the LCDVF. This is the one crucial gear that helps you determine if your shots are in-focus.

The large sensors sported by HDSLRs means (with a wide aperture lens) the depth of field is very narrow, resulting in a sharp subject but blurred background. This is most desirable and considered an important criteria in getting the elusive ‘film look’.

Shooting with a HDSLR, it becomes very easy for the videographer to accidentally throw the subject out of focus and no one wants a blur shot.

To compound this issue, the existing LCDs on HDSLRs are not high-resolution enough to indicate if our focus is spot on. By looking at the LCD, oftentimes we think our footage looks sharp but when we’re editing or viewing on a large monitor, chaos ensues with blurred images everywhere!

Camera techniques like rack focus (or shift focus) becomes near impossible to perform. Achieving accurate focus is even worse for event videographers. Film makers at least have a larger monitor attached next to their cameras to check focus. Run & gun event videographers have to sacrifice gear to be mobile.

The LCDVF is made by a company in Estonia. It is robust with a small footprint and has no moving parts. It works by magnifying the image on the HDSLR’s LCD. Sounds simple but hey, it works like a charm. No electronics, no gears, no batteries to recharge!

It sticks to your HDSLR by way of a magnetic frame that you have to stick onto your HDSLR’s LCD. No, you won’t damage your HDSLR nor will the magnet harm your footage. It’s perfectly HDSLR friendly. LCDVF comes with 2 metal frames complete with 3M adhesive. It fits most popular HDSLR from Canon or Nikon. Just be sure you specify your camera model during the ordering stage.

The LCDVF is invaluable when you have to shoot close-ups with shallow depth of field on the fly

Your view from the HDSLR LCD will be magnified about 2X. The bold statement from LCDVF says it all: LCD ViewFinder spontaneously turns your video enabled DSLR camera LCD screen into a huge electronic viewfinder for precise image evaluation and shake free hand held operation when capturing moving images.

The LCDVF is great especially for run & gun event videography as it clips on or off in a hurry. The eyepiece also shields your eyes from the sun’s glare when shooting outdoors.

We just love love love our LCDVF. When you start using it to assist in focusing, you’ll have the peace of mind that all your focusing will be accurate.
